What is a full body holistic massage?

A full body holistic massage treatment tailored to your individual needs, in short!

You will be treated within the context of your life, looking and taking in to consideration the causes of your tension giving you a full body holistic massage treatment that helps you restore your inner balance.

Conditions that may respond well to a full body holistic massage

Alleviates overall tension & stiffness in muscles (perhaps shoulders or neck from sitting at a desk or driving)

Poor flexibility and tired muscles following exercise (e.g. tightness from gardening, housework or life!)

Emotional tension, anxiety or an over-busy mind

Improves sleep pattern

Reduces overall stress & anxiety

Increases energy levels, mental clarity

Improves mobility & flexibility

Encourages better circulation and then deeper & more efficient breathing

Improves skin elasticity

Boosts the immune system

Balances the digestive system

Promotes general relaxation

Improves lymph drainage helping to ease conditions such as water retention

Is there a consultation process?

Yes.  If you have a computer, to save your treatment time, we’ll send you a consultation form to complete before you come along for your full body holistic massage.  This will allow you to detail any conditions you have such as aches and pains, allergies etc.  This will remain confidential between you and your therapist.  You will need to sign the form to say that you are happy to go ahead with the treatment.

When you arrive we’ll chat through this to fully understand what you would like to get out of your massage treatment and establish any areas that will require additional treatment.  We will then decide on a treatment plan.

Where will I be treated?

Your full body holistic massage will be in a comfortable, calm treatment room with soft lighting and specialist relaxation music.

After your consultation, your therapist will shown you to your treatment room where you will undress to your lower underwear whilst the therapist is out of the room.  You will then lie on the bed, cover yourself with 2 luxury towels & only then will your therapist re-enter the treatment room.

What will happen during the treatment?

During your full body holistic massage therapy, your body will be covered at all times with soft towels, with the exception of the area you are having your full body holistic massage on of course!  Your modesty will be maintained at all times throughout your massage treatment.

What do I do during a massage therapy treatment?

Make yourself comfortable. If your therapist wants you to adjust your position, he or she will either move you or will ask you to move as necessary. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable. Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It's up to you. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time.

During a massage your body releases toxins. This process can mean that your body temperature can change at any time, so please do say if you become cold. Likewise, if the pressure is too light or hard, then please feel free to say as everyone is different.

How will I feel after a massage?

You may feel tired or relaxed after your massage, however, most people will then feel rejuvenated and full of energy.  You may experience some aches and pains for around 24 hours after your treatment as the body flushes the toxins that have been released out.  In order to speed this process along, drink lots of water after your massage.

Why would I not be able to have a full body massage massage?

There are a few conditions which mean a full body massage would not be the best holistic therapy for you.  In this instance, we wouldn’t be able to treat you with a full body massage, but there are plenty of other therapies that would be more suitable and we can help and advise you in making the best choice.

What conditions are not suitable for massage?

Infectious skin disease, rash, or open wounds

Immediately after surgery

Immediately after chemotherapy or radiation, unless recommended by your doctor

People prone to blood clots. There is a risk of blood clots being dislodged. If you have heart disease, check with your doctor before having a massage

Pregnant women should check with their doctor first if they are considering getting a massage.

If you have a bruise, inflamed skin, unhealed wounds, tumours, abdominal hernia, or areas of recent fractures the massage will work around these areas.

Please Note:  Full body holistic massage is a totally safe and complementary treatment (it does not replace medical treatment). If you are in any doubt at all, please consult with your GP prior to treatment
